Yes, I'm an autodidactic odd-ball & I love it!
I grew up in woods in Northern California in house with 52 stairs, a German Shepard named Big Dog and hippies for parents. We actually did have a mile walk up a dirt road to the bus stop.
I was an introverted artist from day one and I wanted to be a geologist. I was in school during that special time when educators believed that everyone was either right brained or left brained. I excelled early on in all areas believed at the time to be “right-brained” activities so no one thought they should push me to excel in Science or Math. Well, our mum had me in classes at Lawrence Hall of Science in Livermore when I was 5, so someone WAS paying mind.
Point being, my intense love of science did not rear its head until after high school and it was always from a place of deep curiosity about "What the Fu*k life was and Why the Fu*k do our brains do that, and how on earth is that even possible?"
In my non stoic moments I am not pleased that I was not pushed in the sciences at a child. If I was independently wealthy I’d go back to school for affective neuroscience and sociobiology.
In my proper mind, i'm intensely grateful for this new world we live in where not only can I learn from books by brilliant humans, but I can listen to & learn from innumerable intellectual giants in all of my many realms of interest!
There’s a lot that’s nuts in the world right now, but friends…there’s also A LOT about this special place in time that’s phenomenal!
SO! Now, I’m an autodidact odd-ball learning what I can when I can and sharing all I can along the way.
Cheers to life-long learning & personal evolution!
My favorite books:
The Agile Gene, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy & Atlas Shrugged. I’m currently reading Home Deus and re-reading some Kurt Vonnegut and Chuck Palinuck.
Favorite Quotes:
"The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence."
~ Charles Bukowski
“Between stimulus and response there is a space and in that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”~ Viktor Frankl

Interesting. Appreciate your honesty! One thing you took away from all that is a magnificent ability to communicate with and connect to people. Your wandering road to science is to your advantage as a marketer because you come at it with an accessible “right-brained” approach yet with thorough scientific underpinnings. Science, tech, and metabolic health need more advocates with your special set of skills. Appreciate all you do!
